Auto steel – steel bar for connecting rod ( non-quenched and tempered steel). Aconnecting rod or con rod is one part of piston engine which connects the ppiston to the crankshaft.
Major connecting rod steel materials:
• Quenched and tempered Carbon Steel Bar for connecting rod
Steel materials include S45C, C45, AISI 1045, SAE 1045 medium carbon steel bar for lower performance engine. The hardness is about 239 to 269HB. The quenched and tempered carbon steel bar usually has higher hardness in the surface, not so deep as alloy steel bar.
•Quenched and tempered alloy steel bar for connecting rod
Steel materials include 41Cr4, SCr440, AISI 5140, SAE 5140, AISI 4140, SAE 4140, SCM440, 42CD, 42CrMo4, AISI 4340, SNCM440 alloy steel bar for higher performance engine. The hardness is about 300HB. After quenching and tempering, the steel materials can get very good mechanical properties.
• Non-quenched and tempered alloy steel bar for connecting rod
Steel materials 30MnVS, 30MnVS6, 38MnVS, 38MnVS5, 38MnVS6, SAE1538MV, 45MnVS, 48MnV, 38B3, XC45 etc.
Above steel materials are non-quenched and tempered alloy steel materials. These materials can get same fatigue strength to quenched and tempered steel materials. These materials’ tensile strength is usually below 900MPa. The non-quenched and tempered steel materials won’t be quenching and tempering which save the cost for usage.
